Linkin Park Ever evolving, ever changing

Esme found this article where Brad talks to PhilStar.com about A Thousand Suns and how the band keeps chaninging and evolving. He also mentions his Little Kids Rock organization:

“What’s really cool about being in this group is that there are so many diverse opportunities not just for creative expression or for business. But it has also put us in a position to help people. I am personally interested in it, and it’s something I enjoy doing,” Brad said. Brad, who graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a degree in communication studies, has actually set up with his wife a scholarship fund that annually awards four-year scholarships at the UCLA. He also sits on the board of directors of a nonprofit org named Little Kids Rock, which gives out free musical instruments and instruction to children in underserved public schools throughout the US.

Here is little Elisa & Brad update.

I found out that they both support & probably are members of Temple Beth Am. It is a Conservative Jewish congregation that takes pride in its reputation as a warm and caring multi-generational synagogue family.

Jonah Taylor Delson!

Belated congratulations to Brad and Elisa Delson for the birth of their baby boy, Jonah Taylor! He was born March 25, 2008. Thanks to Ale for sending me the info.

His Jewish given name is Yonah Tzvi. Congrats again to the new parents!

Mindy Weiss Article

Alisha found and sent this article to me. It is about Mindy Weiss who planned Brad and Elisa's wedding. And it even mentions them! :)

When these high-profile pairs have a star-studded soirée to host -- anything from a wedding to a bridal shower, a bar mitzvah to a birthday or business bash -- they all leave the preparations to one party planner: Mindy Weiss, owner of the Beverly Hills-based Mindy Weiss Party Consultants. But if you think her job is just about selecting flowers and ordering cakes, you're sorely mistaken.

"I have several roles," said Weiss, 48. "I become a decorator, a mom, a best friend, a sister, a therapist. I wear so many different hats.... When they hire me, they're hiring the 10 other people I can be to help them."

That 10-for-the-price-of-one mentality might be why Brad Delson, lead guitarist for multiplatinum rap-metal group, Linkin Park, and his wife, Elisa, turned to Weiss to help them plan their September 2003 wedding. Despite the low-key nature of their nuptials, held at the Skirball Cultural Center, it stands out in Weiss' mind because, like her, the Delson's are proud, practicing Jews.

Although Weiss said her clients run the spiritual and religious gamut, she admitted to feeling especially at ease when it comes to planning Jewish weddings, which comprise about 50 percent of her party-planning business.

"There's some comfort in Jewish weddings," she explained, "because I'm familiar with them. It's a little easier for me."

In 2004 Brad and Elisa established the Delson Scholarship Fund at UCLA which annually awards four-year scholarships to extraordinary students from Huntington Park. This story is based where the skateboard culture is the most foreign, the Midwest. Derrick Cabrera, like all skaters, has a dream of being sponsored and one day going pro. He is an up and coming skater with all the talent but has the world against him. Parents, friends and schoolmates can't understand how Derrick has so much passion for something that has no future in their eyes. His crew of friends that are skaters is the only place he is truly accepted. But, as he gets better and better, the skater he looked up to the most becomes his worst enemy. In the sport of skateboarding a single trick that has never been done or conceived can bring you stardom in an instant. Derrick has that trick, if only he can make it. As he attempts to make this trick he is faced with skate proofing, a jealous friend and cops who have it in for him. Derrick finally gets arrested for skating on private property. After that his parents lay down the law and try to force him to quit skateboarding. Adding insult to injury, his girlfriend forces an ultimatum on him as well: "The skateboard or life with her." At that point, Derrick gives up everything and runs away with his friends to the Tampa Am contest in Florida. This is a weekend that can turn an unknown skateboarder into a future star. He sees it as his only shot to make it in skateboarding. Derrick's rivalry comes to a head in Florida when his crew of friends abandons him because of his jealous mentor. A top amateur's sister rescues Derrick by giving him a place to stay and convincing him to believe in himself. With all the world of skateboarding watching, Derrick finally makes the trick that shocks the entire skate world and instantly thrusts him into the spotlight. His dream of being sponsored has come true.
